What is the MSVU Students' Union?
The Mount Saint Vincent University Students' Union (MSVUSU) is a non-for-profit organization committed in fostering a student experience that can be described as fulfilling, memorable and fun. The Students' Union provides many services to all students while advocating for student needs and hosting events throughout the academic school year.
Together, the executive team, SRC, staff and volunteers act as a single powerful voice that represents this diverse campus.
We show up and set out to accomplish the things we’ve said we’d do. We take personal responsibility for our Student Union work. We have trust in our teammates and know we can count on each other to get things done.
A strong sense of belonging comes from having equal access to all opportunities and resources. We support freedom from discrimination, which is the unjust or prejudicial treatment of different categories of people, especially on the grounds of race, age, or sex. We help give traditionally marginalized groups, like those based on gender, race, or those with physical or mental disabilities, a means to feel equal.
We share the common interest in being successful while in higher education. We are an interacting population of diverse individuals in a common location and/or all connected to Mount Saint Vincent University. We support and encourage connection amongst our community members.
We believe that everyone else in the room is just as important as us. In order to dignify everyone we serve, we leave our personal agenda behind and elevate the importance of each person we are serving on behalf of the Students’ Union. We are intentional in the way we build relationships. We listen, we care, and we help, knowing that we are not the whole solution.
Equity: We believe in justice, rightness, and fairness for all, regardless of gender, race, disability, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, or age. We put equity at the centre of every decision to help members feel empowered, and to level the playing field for every member.
