Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

The CFO's main responsibilities include ensuring the MSVUSU's budget and financial policy are
followed, record all monetary transactions in QuickBooks Online, prepare financial reports and
ensure that the day-to-day financial records of the MSVUSU are kept up to date.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Monitor, maintain, and update the operating budget. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable

Record all transactions in QuickBooks Online

Record all service sales reports
Reconcile visa and bank accounts -
Administer all Students’ Union operating floats

Keep efficient filing records of all Union financials, contracts, and other relevant records

Prepare bank deposits

Assist with the creation of annual Students’ Union budget

Prepare financial records for annual financial review

Prepare and present a financial report and operating budget for the MSVUSU Annual General Meeting (AGM)

Present an Annual Report to the membership at the Annual General Meeting

Keep and cause to be kept, records of the Union’s activities and correspondence

Perform the above responsibilities in keeping with the Constitution, Bylaws and Policies (including the University’s Harassment and Discrimination Policy
What We’re Looking For:
Be a student at MSVU enrolled in at least 0.5 credits, one audit course, or a thesis.
Successful completion of BUSI 2321, BUSI 2322, and BUSI 2259, or an equivalent combination
of training and experience.
Previous experience with QuickBooks Online, accounts payable and receivable
Excellent Time Management skills
Ability to learn independently
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills to effectively interact with
students, staff, and other stakeholders, and create a welcoming and inclusive environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in using various software and technology tools, such as QuickBooks online, Square
Canada, and office 365.
Be able to deal effectively with difficult situations and individuals and work in a fast-paced
environment
Be an organized and initiative driven individual able to multi-task
Adaptability and flexibility to respond to changing situations and priorities.
Developed professional skills are required, including integrity, being non-judgmental, empathic,
objective, and understanding the importance of confidentiality. Creative and innovative thinking
is also necessary.

The role of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) requires a high level of mental effort and can be
demanding, especially during periods of financial reporting, budgeting, and analysis. They must be detail-oriented, analytical, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
The CFO may also need to explain financial constraints to other executives and staff, which limit the ability to complete projects. This can be difficult, requires a high level of integrity and trustworthiness, and can be stressful.
